Voyagers

Our Voyagers left this morning at 7:15, very excited to finally be heading off on their kayaking adventure in Lake Superior. They will spend the next 8 days kayaking in the Apostle Islands, one of the most beautiful spots in the country.  Having led Voyager for 3 years before we had kids, I can tell you that it’s a special special place. It has captured our hearts and imaginations, and I am very jealous that they get to spend 8 days up there. They will be leaving this afternoon from Little Sand Bay and paddling across to Sand Island. There are some beautiful sea caves there, and if the weather cooperates and the water is calm, they will be able to paddle in the sea caves. Some of you might have seen the images from this winter when the sea caves were frozen, and people journeyed north to walk out on Lake Superior to see them.  They are an incredible sight in summer or winter, and hopefully they’ll be able to paddle inside. Some of the islands they’ll be staying on include Sand, Rocky, Basswood, & Stockton. We know they’ll come home with fantastic pictures and fabulous stories.

Back at camp, we enjoyed doughnuts for breakfast and pulled pork for lunch.  The weather is a little cooler and cloudy, but that doesn’t slow us down! We’re excited to welcome our one week E session kids to camp tomorrow. They’ll be taking the place of the Voyagers while they are gone.
