2025 Deerhorn Conquest

We love day 7 of each session, as we break out of our routine for a Special Day at Deerhorn. We sleep in an extra hour and then have breakfast at 9 instead of 8. After breakfast, kids had some (rare) free time around camp to do free choice activities like street hockey, ultimate frisbee, sprout ball, or a movie in the basement of the hall, just to name a few! At noon, Polly gave a great Words of Wisdom talk in the lodge about the importance of all the little moments and how you realize the little moments become the big moments. Lunch was at 1, followed by rest hour as teams prepped for the big team event at 3:00. Today’s event was called Conquest, and it is the newest special event at Deerhorn. Kids ran all over camp in small groups doing various competitions, including the Leaders building a fire on the beach, a team canoe, carrying plates on your head, sailing, and archyer, among many others, and it culminates on the soccer field, planting a flag, and then down to the beach for a team machine gun run. Wolves took first place, followed by the Eagles, Bobcats, and Bears. It was a fun afternoon of team competition! After dinner, it was time for an hour of koogee time, followed by a Deerhorn campfire to cap off this fun day. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and potatoes, lunch was sloppy joes and tater tots, and dinner was pasta with either meat sauce or alfredo, along with chicken wings and bread, with ice cream for dessert. All in all, it was a pretty great day at Deerhorn! Check out our FB and IG stories for videos from today’s competition.
