It’s hard to believe we’re wrapping up our camper sessions tomorrow. Breakfast this morning was egg sandwiches and hash browns, and lunch was baked ziti and bread. It was yet another sunny day at Deerhorn, for which we are very grateful as we finish off this session. Kids had their last three periods of activities this morning, and after lunch it was time to pack up to go home during rest hour. This afternoon was three periods of team competition, ending with third period Braveheart. It’s always a bittersweet game, as the Leaders play for their final time as a Deerhorn camper. (Sidenote: Every camper was given a whole and fully intact team shirt at the beginning of this session. As you can see form photos, it’s become a thing to tear off sleeves, which then get torn and shirts become capes and tanks. We are not responsible for the state of the shirt that comes home. 😉 #boys

Tonight after dinner, we will celebrate the four Leaders with our Water Campfire. Kids will gather on the grassy area of the beach, and the Leaders canoe into the A-dock from the ski dock. Each Leader will be introduced by a staff member, give a speech of their own, and have a song sung by someone of their choosing. It’s always a deeply meaningful night to cap off our camper summer.
