The 2026 Water Campfire

And somehow, here we are. It’s the last full day of E session, which is just crazy. After scrambled eggs, bacon, and donut holes for breakfast, kids had the last three activity periods of regular activities. They worked hard earning those last few stars of the summer. After lunch, we walked every koogee through a long line of no-name lost and found before they headed back to their koogees to pack up. After rest hour, it was time for three activity periods of team comp. Games included koogee ball, skeeter ball, ultimate frisbee, and basketball. Third period was all-camp Braveheart! After dinner, it’s time for the Water  Campfire. We’ll gather all campers down on the grassy area of the beach, and the Leaders will paddle into the A-Dock in canoes and light a fire perched in the middle of the water. The Water Campfire is a night to honor our four Leaders and all of their years at Deerhorn. We are very grateful that the predicted storms have dissipated and we don’t have to do the Water Campfire in the lodge!

P.S. When you look at the team comp photos, please know that we DO, in fact, give them a whole, intact team shirt at the start of the session. Many of them try to rip the sleeves off themselves, and it rarely goes well…and by the end of the session…well…you’ll see.
