We have a regular schedule of activities that runs 6 days a week. But once per session we have a Special Day, and we all love Special Days at Deerhorn. For one thing, it means we get to sleep in an extra hour and have breakfast at 9:00! (bacon and cheese muffins and potatoes) After breakfast, kids had team meetings to prepare for the big afternoon team event. There was also some free time where kids did optional activities like ultimate frisbee or movie in the basement of the hall. (great place to beat the heat!) Charlie Halpin gave a great Words of Wisdom in the lodge at noon about all the things that Deerhorn has brought to his life over the years. Lunch was chicken sandwiches and potato wedges. After rest hour, it was time for the big event, Deerhorn Conquest! It was a new special event last summer, and kind of combines all of the other special events of the summer. It’s hard to describe, so the pictures tell a better story. I’m sure your camper will tell you all about it when he gets home! Wolves came in first, followed by Eagles, Bears, and Bobcats. After dinner, we’ll have some koogee time and then a Deerhorn campfire! Another epic day at the ‘Horn!
