Once again, we woke to rain and chilly temperatures. It’s definitely not been a typical week of weather in the Northwoods! Sports and Games played a wild game of hockey in the basement of Deerhorn Hall with lots of dads and kids joining in the fun. There was lots of action upstairs in the Hall as well, with cornhole, air hockey, ping pong, and lots of card games and chess. As usual on a rainy day, riflery and crafts were busy all day. Today was our guided fishing day, and most families opted not to fish in the rain this morning, even though the guides were ready in all their rain gear! After lunch, the weather improved, and the rain slowed to a light mist, so dads and sons spent all afternoon fishing. One family even caught 19 fish! Breakfast this morning was doughnuts, muffins, and sausage, and lunch was sub sandwiches and chips. There were lots of people in the Deerhorn Store after lunch shopping for Deerhorn swag! After dinner, we hope to play the all-camp favorite, Braveheart, and fingers crossed that tonight’s campfire can be at the campfire ring! The weather has not been ideal, but watching dads and sons snuggled by the fireplace reminds us that the most important part of a Father Son camp at Deerhorn is simply spending time together. Those smiles say it all!
