D Session is off and running! The 49 kids who stayed over had a great time on their trip to the trampoline park yesterday and woke up ready to greet all the kids arriving for D today! It’s a little cooler today, but still sunny and a beautiful day to start the session. Kids were put in temporary activity groups by age to do activities throughout the day like kickball, volleyball, and dodgeball, while other kids arrived by car and we waited for the buses to arrive. It was turkey sub sandwiches for lunch, and then the kids that arrived by car took their swim tests. The buses pulled in around 2:30 and then the party really got started! Kids settled into their koogees, took their swim tests, and then gathered in the lodge for the staff intro meeting. After the meeting, it was time for more activities until dinner. Dinner tonight was chicken tetrazzini. After dinner it’s time for the Deerhorn Combine, as koogees compete together in individual events like long jump, discus throw, and running races as the Leaders walk around camp meeting kids, getting ready for the draft tonight. Kids will be so excited to find out what teams they are on tomorrow! Tonight at 8 is milkline, where kids gather with their koogee for a cookie and milk, settling in for the night. Lights out for 10 and under is 9pm, 11 and 12 year-olds lights out is 9:15, and teenagers bedtime is 10. We know koogee row will not be quiet at lights out as kids are so excited that it’s finally their turn for Deerhorn!
