These kids have been waiting all summer, but the day has finally arrived! We only had 30 kids stay over with us from D session, so that means 108 kids showed up at camp today, so excited that it was finally THEIR turn! We had doughnuts, pastries, and sausage for breakfast, and then kids were put in temporary activity groups for the day with kids their own age. They did activities this morning that included kickball, volleyball, and dodgeball, and as kids arrived by car, they joined the activity groups after settling into their koogee. After chicken pot pie for lunch, the kids who arrived by car took their swim tests down at the beach. Then it was time for more activities like basketball, sproutball, and World Cup soccer. The buses arrived around 2:30, and then the party really got started! Kids ran off the bus and headed to the bulletin board to see what koogee they were in. (Check out bus arrival footage on our Instagram and Facebook pages!) Kids settled into their koogees, took their swim tests, and then gathered in the lodge to do our staff intro meeting. After the meeting, it was MORE activities like koogeeball, ultimate frisbee, and lawn soccer. After dinner tonight is the Deerhorn Combine, where kids do different events with their koogees while the Leaders walk around and meet kids, getting ready to draft their E session teams tonight! We end the day with milkline, where kids gather with their koogee for a cookie and milk and settle down for the evening. It was a fun, busy day at camp, and E session is off to a great start.
