That picture. That picture tells the story better than I ever could. On the last day of each session, tears flow freely. It’s pretty magical to watch boys be able to express their emotions without worry about what others will think. It’s mostly the older campers, since they’ve been at camp for longer and really get what camp is all about. But when you see the younger kids with tears in their eyes when they’re leaving, it’s pretty special. They “get” camp from a very young age.
We had our awards breakfast this morning to cap off our D session, and we handed out lots of awards. There were Most Improved patches in each activity, as well as patches earned for stars in activities. The 11 and under tennis champion was Ronan Poylin, and the 12 and over tennis champ was Jack Levy. Rifle awards for high scores went to Charlie Daley for juniors, Isaac Blacksmith for intermediates, and Jack Friedman for seniors. Deerhorn Spirit awards went to CJ Denison for juniors, Neal Rao for intermediates, and James Hardy for seniors. Outstanding Camper trophies went to Henry Agnew for juniors, Rory Burke for intermediates, and Zach Stamos for seniors. The Eagles have held onto their lead after D Session, and full team comp scores can be found on our team comp page! The videos from our awards speeches are posted to our Instagram and Facebook pages.
We have 26 kids who are staying over for the E session, and they are excited for their afternoon out of camp! Since it’s almost 90 degrees today, they were all headed to an outdoor pool in Wausau for the afternoon, followed by a game at the Wausau Woodchucks stadium. Thank you to all of the D session parents who shared their kids with us this session. We hope they came home bursting with stories to tell! And a huge thanks to Cam Routenberg for taking incredible photos for the last three sessions. I am really going to miss you for E session!
