We shared the news yesterday on our social media, but we wanted to update our blog as well. We’ve had a change to our 2021 Leader crew. Sadly, Jack Pavia is unable to join us this summer at Deerhorn to co-lead the Apache with Charlie Halpin. We will really miss him at camp this summer, and hope that he will return to work on staff in future years.
However, we are excited to announce that Jack Rhyner will be stepping in and co-leading the Apache this year! We are so grateful he was able to rearrange his summer this late in the game to be able to lead. We’re not sure who’s more excited about it, Jack or us!
Jack will join Owen Flom, Will Strickland, and Nate Affolter as the 2021 Leader crew. These four will co-lead their teams with the Leaders we chose in 2020, Charlie Halpin, Eli Whitney, JP Koehl, and Inigo Banos. Since we were closed in 2020, for the first time in Deerhorn history we are having 8 Leaders for the summer of 2021. We are super excited to have these 8 amazing kids with us all summer, and we know that it will be great for our campers to have 2 Leaders for each team!
You can find more info about our Leaders on our team competition page. That’s also where we’ll post team total updates throughout the summer.
This has been a crazy year, to say the least. We can’t believe that it’s been 2 years since Deerhorn has had kids running around having fun. This year has been hard for all of us, but teenagers have especially struggled with the social distance and isolation. We can’t wait to get kids back to their happy place, their second home. It’s been too long. Hook ‘Em Horns!
