After a cooler rainy start to A session, we are very grateful that our B session weather has been incredible so far! The skies are blue, the sun is shining, and it warms to the high 70s each day. It makes everything so much easier when the weather cooperates! Today was the first full day of activities. When they get to camp, kids are put in activity groups with kids their own age. They have a schedule of 6 activities every other day and another 6 on the opposite days. The only activity they have every day is Sports and Games, because we combine two activity groups into one to play team sports and crazy made-up Deerhorn games. It’s a new activity every day and today they played World Cup Soccer. Breakfast this morning was egg casserole, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Lunch was chicken patty sandwiches, mac & cheese, and waffle fries. Dinner was pulled chicken, twice baked potatoes, and rolls, with brownies for dessert. (Delish!) We ended third period of the morning early to announce B session teams, pass out team shirts, and take team pics. (For those new to Deerhorn, Eagles are yellow, Bears are green, Wolves are red, and Bobcats are blue!) And since we announced teams this morning, that means that tonight after dinner, it was time for some all-camp Braveheart! It’s everyone’s favorite game at Deerhorn. All four teams compete against each other, trying to pull the flags of other teams before their own gets pulled and they’re out. Last team standing wins. Kids were psyched to play!
