It’s another bright and sunny day here at Deerhorn!  Our first group of Voyagers has been busy all day, doing final packing and loading their kayaks on the trailer to leave bright and early tomorrow morning! They will spend 8 days sea kayaking in Voyageurs National Park. Sports and Games is playing kickball on DK Field. Kids are working hard to earn stars in activities. In each activity, if kids participate, they earn a red star in that activity. As they show more progress and improvement in an activity, they can earn their blue star. And mastery of an activity earns a gold star. For example, to earn a gold star in water-skiing, you have to slalom all the way around the lake. Red stars are worth 25 points, blue stars are 50, and gold stars are 100. Those stars go up on the team boards in the lodge and contribute to team totals to see who wins each session. Kids also can earn patches for themselves at the end of the session, based on how many points they earned for stars in activities. The patches range from Trailblazer, which is 200 points, all the way up to Perfect Warrior, which is earning every star in camp!  Some kids love working for stars in activities, while others are very content to just have fun and play. Either choice is fine with us!
