We have 44 kids who are staying for C session, and they sailed off on an adventure this afternoon. They sailed with the Eagle River Pirates on a real pirate ship this afternoon. Kids were outfitted with pirate bandanas, eyepatches, and mustaches, to make the experience as real as possible. 🙂 After the pirate ship, the boys 14 and older went to Camp Nicolet in Eagle River for a social with the girls’ camp. You can imagine which they were more excited about, the pirate ship or the social! The younger guys headed back to Rhinelander to have pizzas and root beer at the Birchwood, everyone’s favorite Northwoods restaurant. They’ll come back to camp afterward for a movie in the lodge.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the awards breakfast this morning, but were sad to see so many friends leave. Luke Funk gave a great talk about facing your fears, and Jesse Webb entertained us with another great Deerhorn song. Top shooter awards went to Max Pohl for juniors, Philip Meyers for intermediates, and Logan Persson for seniors. Tennis tournament trophies were awarded to DJ Nolan for the 11 and under bracket, and Griff Parry took home the senior prize. We passed out patches for most improved in each activity, and patches for stars earned in activities.
Spirit awards for B session went to Will Strickland for juniors, Nate Tanner for intermediates, and Declan Graver for seniors. Outstanding camper trophies were awarded to Blake Friesen for juniors, Colin Cummings for intermediates, and Jamie Ratty for seniors. Videos of all the spirit and outstanding speeches will be posted soon on our Youtube site.
The Iroquois held onto their lead for B session, followed by the Chippewa, Apache, and Navajo. It was a truly incredible session full of enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and kindness. Many thanks to all of you parents who shared your sons with us these past two weeks.
