To Be Kind

Today at lunch, Patrick asked the dining room if anyone knew who Mother Teresa was. Many hands went up.  He said that Mother Teresa once said that “Three things in human life are important. The first is to be kind.  The second is to be kind…”  Then he asked if anyone could guess what the third one was, and of course, a chorus went up throughout the dining room.  Kindness. So important to remember on a daily basis, even when we are tired, or stressed, or homesick.  Patrick challenged everyone to simply think about being kind today.  It’s pretty cool to watch and listen to interactions around camp, and know that kids are listening to those words.  We can’t promise that everyone is kind all the time, after all, we’re human and we all make mistakes.  But the difference is what you do after you make that mistake, how you learn from it and try to do better next time.

Kids were excited to get out into activities today and earn stars, both for themselves and to help their teams.  Just like yesterday, we had lots of kids lined up at the store to buy team colored gear.  Breakfast this morning was coffee cake, lunch was chicken patties, and dinner was tortellini (with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream for dessert!).
